The playground

Inspired by the capture of the Chibok girls.

The playground

I have come to the playground,

yet I look around,

and see no friend around.

My joy is tempered,

so I cried out loud:

“Aisha! Ifuyaya! Chichima!” My voice echoed

and journeyed even beyond

the bounds of the playground.

Yet, I...

Faith

The poem is about the faith in God. What inspired me, is that, many people think their problems are bigger than God; but the opposite is true.

Faith

No mountain is too high to climb; For even Everest, men have reached the peak. The sky cannot be the limit,                          ...

The Ancient Fathers of Africa

I look to the day, when Africans, home and abroad, will take hold, and be in charge of managing their own affairs

The Ancient Fathers of Africa:

As the bond between father and son is a bond so difficult to break,

so, the bond  between the ancient fathers and Africa is so difficult to break.

Letter to Hope

Everyday, we are faced with challenges to the point of giving up but no matter how we see it, we've still got hope.

LETTER TO HOPE

The...

Dearest Cousin

Dearest Cousin

In the time and space as we exist as friends there is a commonality between us.

From blood to blood, brother to brother as we love and breathe our hearts support each other.

When your...

The simple things

The smell of fresh cut grass

Brings reflections of childhood

Oh how the time does pass

It's the simple things in life that mean the most

Blue skies, corn fields, a freight train heading to the coast

A free car...

Post Traumatic

Anger; frustration; melancholy.

Emotions that flush my mind as I think of the state of our community.

How could people once so great be brought to such debauchery.

Deprived of our own culture we disrespect ourselves and subjugate women.

I...

Black woman

Doleful; deprived of love because the ones  to protect you disrespect and neglect you.

Black; often the negative connotation makes you reluctant to express your frustration because you fear you'll be deemed crazy.

Objectified; features so...
