Why Me?

When J. Bieber sang, "Picture perfect you don't need no filters" I don't think he was singing to me. I can't post my selfie People will start drawing on my forehead Play "Join the dots" with the spots on my face Or say how my nose can blow out a fire Or how I can see the future with my eyes Or how my lips are half my face I can't wear a cute dress and sandals in public Soon I'll be known as the knock-knees girl No matter how much makeup I apply On my toes and fingers Same same disturbing comments I'll receive Why do I have to go through this? I didn't choose this body Believe me, if I had a say, I'd be the Miss World They say there's beauty in imperfections Mine are so many, ugliness manifests instead I can't afford plastic surgery I'll have to live with this shame-bearing body I'm only human after all Just as you and everyone else I deserve to be treated as such Overlook my irreversible flaws And live a life of happiness and joy Lest I fall into depression And slide all the way into the suicide pool. @poems_by_small
