To the Dreamers

To the ones who dare to dream

The ones who dare to be themselves

The ones who will not be controlled

The ones with a mind of their own

The ones who will always stand up for themselves

The ones who get defensive too quickly

The ones who never forgot where they came from

And the ones genuinely with me

The ones who believe they know what’s best

The ones who don’t have a clue

The ones who’ve been in the games so long

And the ones that are new

To the ones who need a hand but don’t have it

The ones who have their own back

The ones who don’t need anyone else

And that’s a fact

To the ones who feel alone

It’s perfectly okay

You are your own home

The place you’ll always be safe

To the ones who tried to help

But caused more damage than can be fixed

The ones who always discuss people

And don’t know sh-t

To everyone who has felt like this before

And everyone who might one day

You are not alone

One day you’ll meet someone who’ll stay

And to all the naysayers who say you can’t do this on your own

Who question your intelligence daily

I want to kindly remind you

And these people aren’t failing

It’s so easy to be mean

Rude and critical

And let the world harden you

And be overly analytical

I’m here to say that you won’t get me down

Because you are no better

Everyone controls their own life

Everyone is their own pacesetter

For all those who thought it was okay

You’ll be forgiven, but not today

Because while your intentions may have been good

You did something to me that I never would

So give us all space

For us to be us

Be seen not heard

Unless it’s a must

We all dare to dream

Some are too afraid to do so

I am not one

But don’t hate on me, get your sh-t and go

To the Dreamers
