The Men of Today

The men who grow their beards upside down

The men who watch the paint dry in their spare time

The men who hatch their egos whilst on gardening leave

The men who were born by mistake

The men who like to show their tattoos

In freezing sub-zero conditions

The men who fart in a lift full of women and their kids

And skip on a rogue shard

The men with grey and receding hair

Everyday they get revenge on their poor scalps

The medallion men with hairy chest

Hiding behind mascara masks

Powder their noses and flash their pearly white smiles

The Tarzans without Jane and Cheetahs

All muscles and no brain

The men who play away

And spend the nights on the tiles

And waiting for a star to drop from the skies

What about those macho men who lick their wounds

And cry like babies in wet nappies

The men who pick their nostrils

Whilst driving their motors

Carry under their arm a pool of damp patches

Those are the men of today

They are like prisoners in need of an escape

From their mundane and meaningless dreams

Their vanity is a selfie reflected by a broken mirror…
