Straight is the gate that leads to life,
Straight and narrow, the way.
And few there be that travel thereon,
Few see the Light of Day.
Few there be that travel the road.
Few, brave the troublesome path.
For many there be, who weary and worn,
Divert to the well-worn path.
Many divert from the path of life—
The straight and narrow way—
For calm and easy is the path
That leadeth man astray.
Yet steep and narrow is the path
That leads to heaven on high
Wherein the saved of earth shall dwell,
In heaven by and by.
Two paths there are to travel,
Two ways to live your life,
One leads to life eternal
With Christ, the Bread of Life.
But the other path, though worn and fair—
For many a soul has traveled there—
Leadeth to destruction,
Take heed, don’t travel there.
My friend, take not the well-worn path,
For it leads to despair,
And many a man has met his fate,
While trodding that pathway fair.
Yes many a man takes the well-worn path,
For it is broad and fair.
But the straight and narrow path is steep
And few men venture there.
My friend, when you come to the fork in life,
I urge you, please take heed,
For the well-worn path results in death,
But the straight, leads to life indeed.
Yes the narrow way, though straight and steep,
Ends with glorious view,
A view in a place called heaven,
God's home, for me and you.
