Lighthouse Lament

I was a lighthouse on the shore, But you were a ship in the storm. Outstreched across the unkind sea, My light was bright and warm. But the boiling tempest roared, The high waves took their toll, And no matter how bright I shone, The sea still swallowed you whole.
