A Friend Named Death

I wrote this poem simply to get my feelings out. I was feeling so lost and alone, I had to write something down. Anything. This is what came out.

I made a new friend, and his name was Death. I knew him only for a short time, our encounter bittersweet. I wanted him to stay but he said he must go, “It is not your time Child, no matter how badly you want me so.” And so Death left me alone, that dark winter night. Leaving me with only my scars, and absolutely no light.
