Ocean Blue

~~OVER THE OCEAN AND INTO THE BLUE,
THE BOAT CHUGS ALONG, SINGING ITS SONG.
OCEAN, DEAR OCEAN, YOU ARE SO TRUE.
WHEN THE SUN SHINES ON YOU, NOTHING IS WRONG.

STEAM BOATS AND CHUGGERS PLOWING THROUGH WATER
PLOWING THROUGH WAVES ALONG WITH THE SWELL.
CRUISE SHIPS AND TUGGERS FLOATING AND MOVING
TO THEIR DESTINATION, ALL WILL BE WELL.

WHEN THE CLOUDS BLACKEN AND THE WEATHER GETS STORMY,
THE BOATS CHUG ALONG AS THEY DID BEFORE.
THE SWELLS ARE HIGHER AND THE WATER IS CHOPPY.
THE BOATS TAKE LONGER REACHING THE SHORE.

IN THE HARBOR THE SUN IS SHINING.
PEOPLE ARE MILLING ABOUT.
OFF OUT INTO THE DISTANCE;
I THOUGHT I HEARD SOMEONE SHOUT.

“TERLEE, TERLEE!  THE FISHERMEN ARE FEW.
MY OH MY, WHAT DO WE DO?”
IN ANSWER SAYS I TO MYSELF IN MY HEAD
“THOSE LAZY FISHERMEN ARE HOME IN THEIR BEDS!”

DREAMING OF TIMES WHEN THE FISHING WAS GREAT.
UP EARLY IN THE MORNING.  NOBODY WAS LATE!
OFF ON THEIR BOATS BEYOND THE SHORE
CATCHING THEIR FISH LIKE THEY DID BEFORE.
