You’re worth the wait

Used to be everyone’s dream,

Well, so it seemed!

To find that soul-mate,

But with that came the wait.

Some of us waited, rivals frustrated.

But wedding bells kept ringing,

Keeping hope alive and kicking.

As the fairytale romance lived on;

We did it all to find that elusive one.

I waited years for you to say I do,

It was well worth it, ‘cause I live to know you.

Since then, nobody knows what we’ve been through.

So telepathic the way we click,

Your signals come through even when walls are thick.

When I went to Mars for that month,

And you had to hold the fort up front,

I could still feel your heartbeat,

So I knew you’d never cheat  

We took it nice and slow,

No rush from the get go,

You met my parents, I got to meet yours.

They were sure we’d score a lot more,

Even behind closed doors.

Then we learned a thing called trust,

If it wasn’t there, we’d bite the dust.

When you were not there,

Nothing changed in mid-air,

No-one ever got the chance to sit in my chair.

I waited years for you to say I do,

Now nobody knows what we’ve been through.

Time moved along, we got strong.

We weathered so many storms.

Some said we wouldn’t make it,

But we said nothing would break it.

Every move you make rings a bell.

Apart I can tell every breath you take,

If you’re asleep or when you’re awake.

Together we took that big leap of faith.

And here we are to date, a picture-perfect portrait.

Staying together is considered a must.

Vows are broken, by the same token,

But WE eat, sleep and dream our love,

And for this we are truly outspoken.

A vision we had to carve our own team.

Now, critics watch our hearts bursting at the seams.
