Mortal

“Mortal” by Chris McKnight

I did my best to change
When the voice came from the heavens
Up to the prime position of surrendering
I was sent, but I was pleasant

And sometimes I get scared
When I hear those untold stories
Close your eyes, cleanse your mind, soul, and heart
Pray to cut out the demons

Are we going to survive or are we going to fall?
My thoughts are true, my spirit cries out deep
And I’m on my knees calling for answers
Are we saved? hear our weep
I am mortal and they are mortal

Pay attention, my cry to the graceful ones and beyond
Send my condolences to the great
Sorry to the ones I’ve caused trouble for
Please forgive and not hate
Give my all and lean on
Did the best they could to restore

And so long to pure devotion
You taught how to love, live, and more I know
Wish me well and goodbye
You’ve gotta let me go so I could change every reaction
You’ll understand why

Are we going to survive or are we going to fall?
My thoughts are true, my spirit cries out deep
And I’m on my knees calling for answers
Are we saved? hear our weep
I am mortal and they are mortal

Will there be something to come to make it alright?
Tomorrow no more bad dreams and lost screams
Move on forward every day, every night
God fulfill my soul with glory
Put me in a place where I’ll feel safe and proud
Tomorrow a different story
Nothing won’t hurt me now

Are we going to survive or are we going to fall?
My thoughts are true, my spirit cries out deep
And I’m on my knees calling for answers
Are we saved? hear our weep
I am mortal and they are mortal

And so long to pure devotion
You taught how to love, live, and more I know
Wish me well and goodbye
You’ve gotta let me go so I could change every reaction
You’ll understand why

Tomorrow no more bad dreams and lost screams
God fulfill my soul with glory
Tomorrow a different story

Are we going to survive or are we going to fall?
My thoughts are true, my spirit cries out deep
Are we saved? hear our weep
I am mortal and they are mortal

I am mortal and they are mortal
I am mortal and they are mortal
