Kids are kids
They can’t think like us,
Instead they wink at us.
That’s just their way of saying
‘You are who we trust.
We have just made it here,
So show us you care.
Have a mind of our own,
But we’re not yet grown’.
Kids do kids’ things,
They love to pull strings.
But that doesn’t say,
They play outside rings.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids.
Come what may,
Kids are kids.
They’ll make a fuss,
They’ll huff and they’ll puff,
That’s just their way of saying,
‘You must earn our trust’.
As guardian angels over them,
Raise them with no problems.
Have them when ready for them.
Don’t wrong them, then condemn them.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids.
Come what may,
Kids are kids.
Video games experts,
Their computers come first.
That’s just their way of saying,
‘Our brains are alert’.
Devices keep their brains ticking,
But parental guidance must chip in.
Children’s minds easily stray,
Grown-ups must lead the way.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids.
Come what may,
Kids are kids.
Throw Temper tantrums,
Mood swings at random,
That’s just their way of saying,
‘We aren’t phantoms.
We’re human beings too,
So watch what you say or do.
Show us some better examples,
Or our future is in shambles’.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids,
Come what may,
Kids are kids
Kids will joke around,
Wander out of bounds.
That’s just their way of saying,
‘We feel safe and sound’.
Shouldn’t take on our problems,
They aren’t responsible for them.
Kids should enjoy happy times,
Enjoy their youth paying no fines.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids,
Come what may,
Kids are kids.
Kids may not look their age,
Their minds don’t engage,
That’s just their way of saying,
‘Still not on your page!
We’re still in our own worlds,
Still little boys and girls’.
Grown-ups impose not yourselves,
Just because kids go past twelve.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids,
Come what may,
Kids are kids.
Our kids look to us,
Don’t betray their trust.
Some are a little pompous,
If we don’t lead them right,
Their world crumbles to dust.
Tell them the truth,
Don’t undermine their youth.
They’ll live to thank us,
When they see the fruits.
Kids are kids,
Whatever they may say,
Kids are kids.
At work or at play,
Kids are kids.
Show them the way,
Kids are kids,
Come what may,
Kids are kids.
