Dangerous to know

DANGEROUS TO KNOW

Asleep not asleep

thinking of you.

A gale outside,

bullying the air,

releasing a prayer.

Asleep not asleep

thinking of you.

Asleep not asleep

naively with you.

Bodies closely entwined,

loving and laughter,

happily ever after.

Asleep not asleep

naively with you.

Asleep not asleep

clinging to you.

Knowing not knowing,

coming and going,

young love overthrowing.

Asleep not asleep

clinging to you.

Asleep not asleep

alone without you.

A wispered aside,

a green-ache inside,

nowhere to hide.

Asleep not asleep

alone without you.

Asleep yes asleep!

Many years after.

Aware and alive.

Careful : not blind.

Magnetic and kind.

Asleep yes asleep,

and… dangerous to know.

  1. This is wonderful and it’s absolutely stunning that this was your first written poem. It’s written as if you’d been writing for the whole of your 72 years.
