Crown of Thorns

You were the peak in the skyline

I saw that night among the birds

Floating on the water with careless abandon

Your neon lights and Mohawk hair

A vibrant dot in a sea of painted glass

Your spots resonated to the darkest depths

And for those fortuitous occasions

You opened yourself to the world

So the goodness of light could shine

Across your disciples

However history has abandoned you in change

Reductions and casual acquaintances

You may never be the same

But to me you have always been the beacon

Oh hope and prosperity in a place

That holds success as a passing of time

Your greatness is my greatest journey

To one day reveal your greatest gift once again.
