He Used To Be A Poet…

1 He Used To Be A Poet…

He used to be a poet

but he put it to the side…

when life came calling he went along for the ride…

Words would flow like torrent...

potent concoctions on the rocks…

He took stock and stuck a pin in a beautiful part of him...

He tried to build a dwelling where the two could co-exist…

the artist and the worker bee but the the work was shoddy…

the plumbing always knocking, waking the babies at night...

The roof couldn’t hold water and the floors finished improperly...

He took the path with the corporate wellness program...

Chose to be, used and consumed…

exhumed every morning press play and resume…

his mistake?

to neglect his gift…

a wordsmith…

able to set the tone when he’s holding his court…

salivations, expectations high for every retort…

rightfully so, he takes his seat on the throne...

sift through the fragments an agent dedicated to prose…

thats all that he knows...

it just flows…flows…flows...

"imitators can’t even get close" he used to boast…

shred em like cheese and melt em from the heat that he breathed...

He. got. frozen… in time...

but every season comes to its end…

sooner or later he knew the thaw would begin…

and when it did…

in the radiation he began to animate…

words that were jumbled, took aim again...

designation?

made to fascinate…

never for a second what came to mind did he contemplate…

freed his own han solo from his cryogenic state...

his focus went from fuzzy to clear, in an instant…

his flow that they all know, brought the listeners...

all their wishes...

the poet laureate came back to feed his people…

won’t allow a let down for his sequel…

forgave his captor for holding him down when he was feeble…

let him know that his treatment should be at least fair and equal…

even though he’s regal...

his power easy to perceive able to leave witnesses in astonishment…

he now understands how his words lead to empowerment…

his gift no longer admonished, he’ll sit and polish it…

he was back from his power nap!!!

He wanted me to bring a piece from his archives to life tonight…

he hopes you like…

He just trying to do it nice…
