Post lockdown.

Post lockdown The queues gather Hungry for bargains. Desperate to spend The furloughed cash And the unspent beer tokens. An air of resigned politeness Pervades the streets. Masked ones stepping away Instead of robbing up close As in times of yore. The unreality deepens. Once powerless shop assistants Bark out the two-metre rule. Plastic screens separate To give a Perspex perspective. I shall do now What I always vowed not to. Fully embrace the unreal world And keep my distance Emotionally, physically and spiritually.
