She looks upon him
with eyes of longing desperation
like a cold elusive shadow
he leans his heart elsewhere
She holds out pleading hands
to grasp at his affection
they only wander futilely
in a mist of intangibility
She wails out to him never silent
a muted siren yet still defiant
Like an old seasoned sailor
his indifferent ear does not waver
Fancy feathers does she adorn
to peacock her beauty for attention
blinded by monotone are his eyes
her rainbow becomes a charcoal ribbon
She streams out stinging tears
in an ever darkened isolation
no compassion draws close
to soothe her desolate disposition
